Aurora
Aurora Aksnes, born June 15 1995 in Stavanger and is professionally known as Aurora often stylized in uppercase as AURORA is an Norwegian music producer and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves has been released by Decca Records and was well welcomed by blogs about music. Half the World Away - by Oasis is a cover for John Lewis' Christmas ad as well as Nature Boy - by Nat King Cole have already been two of the most notable covers the artist has done. Katy Perry, who endorsed the song Runaway with her voice, also gave it some more recognition. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' first musical moment was when she stumbled across a miniature piano hidden in the basement, and being fascinated at the sound it produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. He urged her not to do music just to have fun or for the sake of growth but rather, she was encouraged to pursue it. The Aksnes family advised her to compose. Her influences include renowned authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her love for Bjork's style. Her mom encouraged her to play her music publicly, not so that she could be famous, but to help others realize how important they are and what they can do for the world. The piano was first played by her when she was only six and began writing music at the age of nine. It wasn't until her 14th birthday that she told her parents. Aurora did not have a set goal. She claims that she enjoys creating music. She believes that music can help people feel more relaxed.
